Membership

What are the boundaries of SWON Libraries?

The members of SWON Libraries come from 17 counties in the southwest region of Ohio: Adams, Brown, Butler, Champaign, Clark, Clermont, Clinton, Darke, Fayette, Greene, Hamilton, Highland, Madison, Miami, Montgomery, Preble and Warren. There are also members in Campbell, Kenton, and Boone Counties in northern Kentucky.

Who can be a member of SWON Libraries?

Membership is granted to organizations (libraries). All libraries of any type (academic, public, school, special) within the 17 county service area in Ohio are considered members of SWON Libraries. Members and Kentucky libraries may elect to pay dues to become contributing members and thus be entitled to reduced rates on programs as well as additional services. Where will the SWON Libraries office be located?

SWON Libraries staff will have their offices at 10815 Indeco Drive, Cincinnati, OH 45241. This is actually in the City of Blue Ash, Ohio. You can find a map to this location at: http://www.swonlibraries.org/directions/

Organization and Governance

Who runs SWON Libraries?

During its formation stages, SWON Libraries is governed by a Transitional Executive Board. The members of that Board are:

When are Board Meetings held?

The Transitional Executive Board meets monthly. Announcements of all meetings are on the SWON Libraries webpage. A council of all libraries meets on a semi-annual basis. These meetings will also be announced on the SWON Libraries webpage.

Services

Where are programs held?

SWON Libraries will hold programs and events throughout the region that it serves. Meetings will be scheduled at times and locations that are most convenient to the members. Regular meeting sites have been investigated throughout the region. If you would like to recommend a site, please contact the Continuing Education Coordinator, Vicky Sweeney.

Will there be Interest Groups in SWON Libraries?

All GCLC Interest Groups have asked to continue under SWON Libraries. Each group will decide if it is appropriate to include the entire service area, or if it would be better to hold regional meetings. See the individual pages on each Interest Group on the SWON Libraries website for more information. All library staff are encouraged to participate in these free events and meetings.

Will there be a delivery service?

The SWON Libraries members in the greater Cincinnati area have elected to continue the delivery service for the 2006-2007 program year in their area. Detailed information on the delivery service can be found on the SWON Libraries website.

What are the procedures for Direct Lend and Interlibrary Loan?

New procedures for Direct Lend and Interlibrary Loan are in development and will have to be negotiated between the members.

Does the Media Resources Division still exist?

The Media Resources Members are also in a transitional status. All members of the Division will continue for the 2006-2007 program year.
