Publishers send copies of their new titles to the ROYAL group. These books are aimed at the target audience of YA readers, grades 7-12. At each meeting reviews from the last set of books are reviewed orally. The participating reviewers get to choose books to read and review for the next meeting. The number of books available is based on the number of reviewers at the meeting and the number of books received. Reviews are placed in the ROYAL Reviews database and sent to the publishers. The member gets to keep the books that she or he reviews. Most of the reviewers add the books to their library's collection. Most members add close to $1,000 worth of free books to their home libraries.
ROYAL membership consists of some of the most dynamic librarians currently serving young adults and children in the area. They encompass a wide variety of backgrounds, including the Hamilton, Clermont, Campbell, and Kenton public library systems, as well as the best of both public and private schools in the area.
If you are interested in joining ROYAL, contact the SWON Libraries office.
ROYAL meets on the second Tuesday of odd-numbered months (January, March, etc.) at the SWON Libraries Office. Specific meeting dates are listed on the SWON Libraries event calendar.
Membership is $30.00 a year, and is collected at the September meeting.
