Three different sessions should have comments for each session rather than one comments field at the end. Muffins were a good size Need more fruit

Millennials

If you don’t fit the Millennial-type groups because of your upbringing – what then?
What effect does your birth order have on the Millennials and on other generational types?
Only children?
Older sibilings? Younger sibilings?
Conservative vs. Liberal upbringing?
This whole concept could be expanded?

Roberts’ Centre

Do they have smaller conference rooms?
Think about Dayton area or Miami area?

Support Staff Fall Symposium

Marietta? Keep her on the list for next year?
Need for subtitles? Distraction? Need to mention what the video title is so that others can order and watch it at home?
Have folders with bibliographies for each presentation
Have information about Interest Groups and contact information – invite people to get involved
Ask presenters to provide contact information to attendees

Need fewer tables (just enough to seat all those people) and different arrangement – curving tables around?
Liked the water on the tables

Fall Symposium: Oct. 5, 2006

Dealing with difficult people – patron or coworkers
Relaxation Session – relaxing at work
Have massages again
Stress Management in the Workplace – stuff you can do at your desk
Have physical as well as emotional stress management techniques
Include a flyer on the Spring Conference
Crisis Management in the Library – how plans are developed – why is it important and how do you fit in? – find someone who has been through something and have them speak – what someone encountered? Have them do keynote and do breakout sessions? How do you deal with the patron who refuses instruction or refuses to leave? (Building must be vacated in case of emergency – stories from Wilmington) Small crisis? What if you have patrons fighting? What if they lose their work on the computer? Legally? Ethically? Libraries with emergencies – Summit slid down the hill – libraries who have just moved or are getting ready to move – moving can really be a crisis.
Construction in your building? (U.C. Medical?)
Robotic Retrieval systems?
RFID tags? Is it there to reduce jobs? Privacy issues?
New Technologies in a breakout session?
Massage: Do they have a PA system so that they can still hear the speaker? Would a 3rd person help them?
Marketing to Millennials? Find a Library person. Wannabees – trendy and want to be in the know?
Breakouts that are community-focused? Rural communities? Academic Library focus? Public Library focus?
Breakout session for a library that deals with all folks – giving customer service across the generations and across demographics. Socio-economic populations and issues?
Breaking the Mold
Louis: Connecting with Millennials?
Have Anne do a presentation on where GCLC is going
Have breakouts on specific stress areas
Send out email with Support Staff Interest Group information with email link after the program
Do a bag for the give-aways – maybe a lunch bag?
We’ll bring on our own projectors
Look at the sound – make sure everyone can hear
Breakouts will take what the State Librarians do and take it to the next level
Time management
Anne could introduce and then the state librarians could give in-depth talk

Spring Symposium 2007: Breaking the Mold

Supervising Student Workers as a breakout – it’s not about the chocolate anymore (ALA Chicago) – panel discussion – keynote discussion and breakout – good stories and horror stories – interviewing Student workers?

Fall Symposium 2007: In Kentucky

Sarah will look at Kings Island Conference Center for Spring Symposium, 2007

Look at holding the Spring Symposiums to the North and West of Cincinnati?

Asking on surveys – for Support Staff events, how far will you travel?

Surveys to directors – would you send people more than an hour away? How many Support Staff do you have in your library? Do you pay for expenses?
