Even with federated search software, the goal is easier said than done. Paul Gerwe has investigated, designed and implemented a federated search solution for the Procter & Gamble library. He’ll share high level details on what’s possible and practical for federated search.
Paul Gerwe began his career as a webmaster and technical writer. He received his MSIS in 1999 from the School of Information and Library Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He joined Procter & Gamble in 2000 to provide IT support for legacy systems. In 2002 he moved to the P&G Library. There he split his time between business research and IT projects including federated search. Today his time is devoted to supporting library systems and technologies with a special emphasis on search and findability.
