Description

Does your library tweet? Are there fans of your library on Facebook? Web 2.0 has many facets and perhaps the most dynamic and fastest growing aspect of Web 2.0 is social media. Social websites like Facebook and Twitter are fostering communication and collaboration among their users. Many libraries are now using these social websites to reach out to their users. In addition to reaching new users, social media also provides new ways to connect with traditional library patrons.

Join us for an overview of popular social websites and discussion of how libraries fit in. Attendees will learn about best practices, social networking etiquette, and how libraries can foster online communities of users. Attendees will also get some hands-on "play time" with social tools.

Audience

Whether your library already has a presence on social networks or you're just curious what all the fuss is about, this workshop is for you.
